Debbie Strand came to Palm Beach County in 1986 and, in the past decade, has made an inspiring mark in the recovery community. Among her relevant accomplishments are co-hosting one of the first radio shows about 12 step recovery pioneering a path for many other shows including her own nationally syndicated broadcast, Sober In The City, in major network markets. She has created and established a successful not for profit foundation and the format being used, still today, after her departure. In keeping with her nature and spirit, she is still on touch and continues to council and guides many of the foundation recipients’ and their families. To keep up with a continuing demand for her innate skills, Debbie has become a Minister, a Certified Recovery Coach, a Certified Recovery Support Specialist and a Certified Recovery Residence Administrator with Department of Children and Families clearance to work with the elderly, children and at risk adults. She is also certified to train others to be Certified Recovery Coaches and has had her classes largely attended. Debbie has been a group facilitator for almost 5 years and is proficient with many group topics and has built a women’s sober house maintaining a high census throughout the year. Many come back have her management, support and guidance. Sober since 2004 (AA, NA, Alanon, ACA, Break Through Program) and is able to speak with those with substance abuse afflictions with empathy and grace. She has a way of communicating that puts others at easy and they find it easy to open up to her.
